Gunmen suspected to members of Iceland cult group have shot death the Vice Chairman of Obelle Community Council of Chiefs in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Ferdinand Dabiri.
Community sources told Daily Trust that the incident which occured Saturday evening, created panic in the area, as most people relocated over fear of being attacked by the hoodlums.
Daily Trust gathered that the suspected Iceland cult members led by their kingpin , one ‘Cairo’ approached the venue where Chief Dabiri and other Chiefs were holding meeting and gunned down their target.
A local source in Obelle said: “Cairo came down from a motorbike with a gun, walked straight to Chief Dabiri, shot him twice and left after confirming that he was dead.

“The incident resulted in pandemonium as other chiefs scampered for safety. Some natives have also fled the community as at Saturday evening.”
The second Son of the deceased, Joseph Eze Dabiri, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the incident has already been reported to the police in the area.
He said: “I heard that a guy came with gun while my father was in a meeting at Omuwoka village in Obelle, shot at him twice and fled on Saturday evening”.
Daily Trust recalls that in November last year, women in the community led a protest to Rumuji Police Division in Emohua LGA where they accused the cult kingpin, ‘Cairo’ of killing onr Akpata Amadi, a member of local vigilante in Obelle community.
Police spokesperson in Rivers State, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident, said investigation is ongoing, vowing that the culprits will be apprehended.
