Ahead of the forthcoming council poll in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at least 203 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Abaji Area Council of the territory.

The defectors, from Rimba, Ebagi, Pachiwa, Tupa, and Rimba-Gbagyi under Rimba-Ebagi ward of the council, were received by the YPP chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Suleiman, and the party’s chairmanship candidate, Alhaji Muhammad Angulu Loko, during his campaign to Tupa community on Sunday.

Addressing the defectors, the YPP Abaji chapter chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Suleiman, commended them for taking a bold decision to pitch their tents with the party, assuring them of equal treatment.

Also speaking, the YPP chairmanship candidate, Alhaji Muhammad Angulu Loko, said he was delighted with the defectors, assuring an all-inclusive government if voted into office.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr. Mathias Gimba, said their decision was informed by the massive support the party’s candidate has been receiving on a daily basis across the ten wards of the council.
