The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has called on residents of the territory to ensure that the forthcoming council elections are free from violence and crises.

This was contained in a speech read by a Deputy Director, Mr Emmanuel Ogu, during the Security Awareness Programme organised by the FCT Department of Security Services in partnership with the FCT Youth Stakeholders Forum.

Mr Ogu, who represented the Director, Department of State Services, Abdul- Lateef Bello, said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Mohammed Musa Bello, was desirous of a safe and conducive environment and committed to protecting lives and property.

Mr Emmanuel Ogu said the focus of the Security Awareness Exercise was the youths.

According to him, “We are appealing to FCT youths to support government in enshrining peaceful co-existence as a way of life in our communities.

He reminded the audience that security was everyone’s business and a priority of the FCTA.

In Abaji, the Area Council Vice Chairman, Abubakar Abdullahi, said that though Abaji was prone to security issues because it shared boundary with three states: Nassarawa, Kogi and Niger, the chairman in partnership with security agencies, had ensured that crime and criminality had been reduced to the barest minimum.

In Kwali Area Council, His Royal Highness, Esu Kwali, Dr Shaban Nizazo, said there was a need for traditional leaders to meet with the youth leaders.
