The Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has called on countries across the globe to participate in the upcoming 12th edition of the International Arts and Crafts Expo (INAC) scheduled to hold between the 20th and 24th of November 2019, assuring them of huge cultural extravaganza.
The DG stated this on Friday, when he hosted over 36 ambassadors of different nations to Nigeria to a pre-INAC diplomatic dinner in Abuja.
He called for collaborations and assured that the expo will be an avenue for infusion of culture as different countries will be exhibiting and showcasing their crafts.
Runsewe who noted that although the expo may still be four months away, said that the Council is ramping up preparations for the extravaganza.
He said although the meeting with the diplomatic corps is informal, it is aimed to bring them up to speed on preparations for the event and the opportunities they can exploit.
Runsewe told the gathering that the theme of this year’s event is ‘Networking Nigeria’s crafts to the world,’ also said, that it is in line with President Buhari’s administration which, believes that cultural tourism could earn Nigeria billions in foreign earnings.
He said 22 countries participated in the 2018 arts and crafts expo, and prayed that the number will be surpassed this year.
The Dean of the Diplomatic corps and who is also the Cameroonian Ambassador to Nigeria, Salahudeen Abbas Ibrahim, said he was impressed with the growth INAC has experienced over the years.
He said the arts and craft expo is growing and he has personally witnessed the acceleration of the expo over the years.
He called on the diplomatic corps to encourage their countries to participate in the forthcoming event.
