Councillor, supervisor remanded over murder

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Makurdi, Benue State, has remanded in prison custody one serving councillor and an ex-supervisory councillor, both in Kwande Local Government Council, on suspicion of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The accused persons, serving Councillor, Simon Aondover Semali, and ex-Supervisory Councillor, Akuha Shimaibo, both of Mbaikyaa kindred in Shangev Ya District of Kwande are being held for their alleged involvement in the murder of one 45-year-old man, Iormbaamo Iorchir.

The court had earlier remanded four people in prison over the same matter after they were arrested by the police.

When the case came up, the prosecution asked for time to enable further investigation.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A. I. Igyama, therefore, adjourned the case to August 31.
