A road crash involving a Toyota Corolla car and a motorcycle has killed two persons believed to be a husband and his wife at Kajola, on the Sagamu-Abeokuta expressway, Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the victims, clad in similar attires, were riding on a motorcycle when they were hit by the car.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement yesterday.

Akinbiyi said the accident occurred at about 7.30pm on Saturday, blaming it on wrongful overtaking on the part of the driver of car.

“The suspected cause was wrongful overtaking on the part of the Corolla car driver who was going towards Sagamu, and who collided with the couple’s motorcycle that was moving towards Abeokuta at the diversion zone of the road,” he said.

Akinbiyi disclosed that the driver of the car had been taken to a hospital for treatment, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the Owode General Hospital mortuary in Obafemi Owode Local Government.

He added that the car and the motorcycle were taken to the Owode Egba police station.
