An Ado-Ekiti State High Court has discharged and acquitted one Michael Akinola, who was charged on a 5-count charge of armed robbery.

Justice Ilori Akintayo, in his judgment on Monday, held that the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt against the defendant.

He held that none of the police officers gave tangible evidence to nail the defendants to the offence of armed robbery.

Earlier, the prosecutor from the Ministry of Justice, Mr Gbemiga Adaramola, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 7, 2015 at Irona Street, Ado-Ekiti.

He said the defendant on the said date, armed with two knives robbed one Daramola Sesan of his Bajaj Motorcycle. He also had seven torchlights, two pliers, one hammer and three flash drives.

He said he also robbed the following people of their valuables: Mrs Ajisefini Alice of her N3,600, Ayodele Temitope of a Blackberry phone and a Nokia phone and Kamilu Suliat of the sum of N1,470 and a Samsung phone.
