A mobile court in Delta State has convicted 17 environmental offenders as part of efforts to enforce sanitation laws in the state.
The Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DCTDA), Patrick Ukah, disclosed that 18 offenders were arraigned, out of which 17 were convicted while one was discharged.
He said the enforcement exercise was aimed at ensuring a cleaner and more orderly environment.
Ukah warned that the agency would intensify its operations, stressing that there would be no leniency for individuals or organisations found violating environmental regulations.
He urged residents, traders and business operators to maintain clean premises and comply with sanitation laws to avoid prosecution.
