Court convicts man for stealing engine oil

A magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, yesterday convicted a 39-year-old man, Remi Ifamoyegun, for stealing engine oil.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, told the court that Ifamoyegun stole the oil from his employer, Mobil filling station, Osogbo, from 2016 till June 11, 2020.

Adeoye put the value of the stolen oil at N469,000.

Ifamoyegun, who pleaded guilty to the offence levelled against him, said he stole the oil to enable him get money to pay for his mother’s hospital bill and surgery on his wife.

The defence counsel, R. A. Ugwu, prayed for leniency for his client. The magistrate, Riskat Olayemi, sentenced Ifamoyegun to seven months imprisonment.
