A Federal High Court sitting in Katsina has dismissed the case brought before it by two gubernatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the early held ward, local government and state congresses of the party in the state.

The duo of Sani Bello and Mohammed Mainasara alongside 169 others had approached the court seeking nullification, invalidation and setting aside of  the party congresses held and recognition of any persons as winners as well as calling for new congresses.

In her ruling, Justice Hadiza Shagari described the case as “statue barred” which was filed after the aspiration of 14 days window for anyone who has issues to do so with the elections.

She said the law prescribed 14 days for which the plaintiffs ought to have filed their case but could not do so till three months after which it becomes a lifeless cause of action.

Speaking after the judgement, counsel to the plaintiffs, Iorhuna Shedrack said they will carefully study the judgement and will possibly appeal it giving that their issues was congress not party primaries which the court used for its stand.

However, Earnest Obunadike, counsel for the defendants, lauded the judgement saying it’s well thought out and put the state governor and other elected officials in their true rightful positions.
