A Customary Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, has dissolve a 20-year old marriage between Ronke Alade and her husband Dauda on grounds of constant beating of the wife by her husband.
The petitioner, a 42-year-old businesswoman, had dragged her husband before to court over what she described as provocation and frequent beating, which said robbed her of peace of mind.
Ronke also said told the court that the respondent has been threatening her life and that of her daughter, saying there was no more love, hence, her decision to have the union dissolved.
The union was blessed with four children namely, Fathia, 20, Saudat,16, Bolaji, 13 and Pamilerin 6 years.
On his part, the husband, 52-year-old butcher denied beating the petitioner as alleged.
President of the court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, who dissolved the marriage, said the union has been fraught with violence and cruelty, adding that the parents of the petitioner testified to the issue and they supported the separation.
The court held that the respondent should be giving the woman N10,000 monthly feeding allowances in addition to taking care of their education and medical care.
