Justice S.M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Kano has convicted one Rabiu Suleiman for spraying a total of N400 in N100 denomination at Badawa event centre in the state.
The event happened in January this year during a wedding ceremony.
When the charge was read out to him, Rabiu pleaded guilty.
The offence is contrary to the CBN Act 2007 and punishable under Section 21(1) of the same act with imprisonment for at least six months or a fine of N50,000 or both.

Justice Shuaibu held that the accused is convicted as charged but based on a plea bargain entered by the two parties, the convict is to pay a fine of N200,000.
Counsel for the EFCC, Z. Muhammad, who filed the one count charge against Suleiman on April 7, informed the court that the convict had sought for a plea bargain, praying the court to exercise its discretion by imposing fine instead of jail term.
The defence counsel, Ahmad Bua, concurred with the submission of the prosecution.
The trial judge insisted that the national currency must be respected by all at every material time, noting that its declining value against other currency is no justification for its spray and mutilation.
