A Magistrate Court in Kano has ordered the remand of a man, Ali Sulaiman, over the alleged killing of his wife, Maryam Nababa Badamasi, barely two months after their marriage.

The defendant was arraigned on charges of alleged culpable homicide.

The prosecution alleged that the accused killed his wife to gain access to her wealth, noting that she came from a wealthy family.

State counsel, Aisha Habibu Hassan, informed the court that the offence is capital in nature and requested time to seek legal advice.

The presiding magistrate, Sadiya Zakirai, granted the request and ordered the defendant’s remand pending further legal advice.
