Court jails 5 internet fraudsters in Abeokuta

Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, handed different jail terms to five internet fraudsters.

The convicts – Sodiq Adeyinka, Sambo Abiodu,  Adegoke Agboola, Kehinde Quadri Oladimeji and Daniel Praise – were prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on separate one-count charge of criminal impersonation, to which they all pleaded guilty.

According to the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, Abiodun bagged a four months jail term and Praise and Adeyinka got five months each, while Agboola and Oladimeji were given six and eight months jail terms, respectively.

Justice Abubakar also ordered Abiodun to restitute various sums of money to their respective victims and forfeit proceeds of their crimes to the federal government.
