A Shari’a Court sitting at ‘Yan Alluna in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State has sentenced one Mustapha Aliyu Isah to six months’ imprisonment after finding him guilty of substance abuse.

The defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge of drug-related misconduct.

The prosecutor informed the court that the accused was apprehended by security personnel while engaging in substance abuse on the street.

During the proceedings, the defendant pleaded guilty to the offence.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Mustapha Ashiru, sentenced the convict to six months in a correctional facility without the option of a fine on the first count.

The court further ordered that the convict receive 30 strokes of the cane on a second count related to the incident.
