A Shari’a Court No. 1, sitting at Kofar Kudu in Kano Municipal Local Government Area, has sentenced Sulaiman Musa Sagagi to six months of community service after finding him guilty of theft and property damage.

The convict was arraigned by the state counsel, who informed the court that the defendant was apprehended by security personnel while destroying the fence of the Sagagi Cemetery and removing iron rods from the premises.

When the charges were read to him, the defendant admitted to committing the offences and pleaded guilty to both counts.

Delivering the judgment, the presiding judge, Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwargini, sentenced the defendant to six months of community service on the first count. 

During this period, the convict is required to study Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh).

On the second count, the court ordered the convict to sweep the Malam Ibrahim Sagagi Islamiyya School for a period of four months.

The judge further directed prison official ASC Abdu Mu’azu Danhajiya to take the convict into custody to ensure the proper execution of the sentence.
