A Sharia court sitting at Fagge ‘Yan-Alluna in Kano metropolis has ordered one Halifa Abdullahi to sweep Fagge Juma’at mosque for 30 days as punishment for stealing eight copies of the Holy Quran.
Abdullahi, a resident of Yola quarters in Kano metropolis, was accused of breaking into a mosque at the Tudun Maliki area Sunday night and carting away eight copies of the holy book.
The suspect was, however, apprehended by security guards of the mosque after committing the offence.
The guards thereafter handed him over to Filin Hockey Police Station, from where he was charged before the Sharia Court.
The suspect pleaded guilty when the Police prosecutor, Abdul Wada, read the charges against him.
Upon his guilty plea, the Presiding Judge, Bello Musa-Khalid sentenced him to sweep the vast courtyard of Fagge Juma’at mosque, for 30 days.
