Court orders Police to pay Peace Corps N12.5m damages

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered security agencies to unseal the headquarters of the Peace Corps of Nigeria in Abuja.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole on Thursday also awarded the sum of N12.5m damages against the Nigeria Police over the violation of the fundamental rights to moveable and immovable property of the corps.

The verdict followed a fundamental rights suit filed by the counsel to the Peace Corps, Kanu Agabi (SAN) after the raiding of their premises on February 28.
