A Grade One Area Court sitting in Karu, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has remanded two men for allegedly stealing money to gamble at a Bet9ja shop.

The two men, Gabriel Ameh Ondugbe of the Federal Housing Estate, Nyanya and Chinonso Kingsley of Jikwoyi Phase 2, were alleged to have stolen N1.4 million from a business centre operating a Point of Sales (P.O.S.) service belonging to Kene Ezekwueme of Abuja Clinic in Karu.

According to a First Information Report obtained by City News, the duo were charged on  joint act, breach of trust, theft and criminal misappropriation, which the prosecutor, Barr. Vincent Osuji, said contravene sections 80, 287, 309, 312 of the Penal Code Law.

Ondugbe, who is said to be an employee at the business centre, and Chinonso, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Judge, Ismail Abdullahi, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in a correctional facility since their counsel failed to provide valid ground on which they could be granted bail and adjourned the case till Thursday, January 30, 2020.
