An FCT High Court in Jabi has remanded two men charged with robbing a former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Mr Chibudom Nwuche.

The duo of John Obi and Ishaku Adoga are said to have contravened the provisions of sections 1 (1) (2) (a) (b) and 6 (6) of the Robbery and Firearms ( Provisions) Act 2004 and Section 287of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Mr Adeniyi Oyeyemi told the court that Nwuche of Plot 1242, Oguta Lake Street, Maitama, Abuja, reported the matter on Nov. 29, 2016.

Oyeyemi said the defendants on Nov. 28, 2016, went to the complainant’s residence and stole two Certificates of Occupancy, revenue receipts and a Rolex diamond wristwatch.

Oyeyemi further alleged that a day after the incident, Nov. 29, 2016, the defendants dressed in military uniform and at gunpoint robbed the complainant of $11,000, N4 million and a Nokia XL phone in his office at 245, Colorado Street, Maitama.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The trial judge, Justice Adebukola Banjoko, ordered that they be remanded in Kuje Prison and adjourned the case until November 8 for the prosecution to open its case.
