An Upper Sharia Court at Kofar Kudu, Kano metropolis, has remanded two young men in prison custody over the theft of two mobile phones at a wedding ceremony.
The duo, Musa Abdullahi Sharifai and Anas Jibrin Shahuci reportedly stole the phones from one Yusuf Aliyu Indabawa and Hassana Mustapha Tudun Yola at a wedding party in Satelite Event Center.
The prosecutor told the court that on March 19, Indabawa and Hassana went to Kwalli police station and reported that Sharifai and Shahuci conspired with one Mudan Ibrahim, who is now at large, and stole two phones; one valued at N8,000 and the other N45,000.
Upon their appearance in court on Monday, the accused persons pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft, contrary to sections 120 and 133 of penal code law.
Subsequently, the presiding judge, Ibrahim Sani Sarki Yola, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in the custody of the correctional service and adjourned the case till June 7 for judgement.
