A High Court sitting in Kano metropolis has ordered the remand of two individuals for their alleged involvement in conspiracy, armed robbery, and the murder of one Usman Usman, a resident of Dala Quarters, Kano.

The defendants, Yusuf Sadi and Abba Sani, were alleged to have conspired and attacked the deceased with dangerous weapons during a robbery operation on September 16, 2025, at Dala Quarters.

The prosecution, led by Barrister Lamido Abba Sorondinki and Barrister Iliya Ibrahim, told the court that the attackers dispossessed the victim of his mobile phone while inflicting severe injuries on him.

Usman was later confirmed dead at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

When the charges were read, both defendants pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution subsequently applied to the court for permission to present witnesses to substantiate the charges.

In response, defense counsel, Barrister A. A. Sadiq, informed the court that he was prepared to cross-examine the prosecution’s witnesses at the next sitting.

After listening to the submissions from both parties, the presiding judge, Justice Dahiru Muhammad, granted the prosecution leave to present its witnesses at the next hearing.

He further ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional facility pending trial.

The matter was adjourned to February 13, for further hearing.
