A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Tumfure area of Gombe metropolis, yesterday, ordered three farmers to be remanded in prison custody, over alleged robbery and kidnapping.

The accused persons, Mati Usman, Ibrahim Damina and Ya’u Ali Abdullahi, were alleged to conspired and kidnapped one Alhaji Idris Abubakar of Abuja Bula village of Akko LGA of Gombe State.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR), the accused persons were alleged to have on April 20, 2017 criminally conspired with one Bello Lawan (now at large) to attack the house of Abubakar and robbed his sons of two mobile phones while armed with cutlasses and a Dane gun.

The court was told that the accused persons also took away Abubakar and asked his family to pay the sum of N150 million as ransom for his release.

The accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge preferred against them.

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida, therefore, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to November 13 for further mention.
