An Ikeja chief magistrate court in Lagos has remanded three men in prison custody for allegedly defiling three minors.

The accused persons were arraigned separately before the court with the court ordering their remand pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution.

The first accused person, Charles Yoroh, 56, allegedly lured a 14-year-old girl to a hotel and unlawfully defiled her by forcefully having sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, said Yoroh was apprehended by the police and that the case was referred to the Gender Section at the Ikeja Police Command for further investigation.

The second accused person, 43-year-old Chukwuma Smart, allegedly had carnal knowledge of his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter on April 13 at his residence in Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State.

The prosecutor said parents of the victim reported the case to the police, leading to the arrest of the defendant.

The third accused person, Joseph Banga, 40, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old, at his residence.

“The defendant defiled a 14-year-old, who lives around his area, by luring her into his apartment and having carnal knowledge of her,” ASP Emuerhi said.

He said the accused person was arrested after the teenager’s parents reported the case to the police.

The magistrate, Mrs Olufunke Sule-Amzat, who did not take pleas from the accused, adjourned the case of Yoroh and Smart to July 15 and that of Banga to July 22. (NAN)
