A Sharia Court sitting at Kofar Kudu in Kano Municipality has ordered the remand of three siblings, Hassan, Usaina and Gambo, over allegations bordering on conspiracy, assault and inflicting injuries on one Rahama Lawan following a dispute related to a house gutter.

The defendants, who are residents of Gidan Shanu in Dorayi Quarters, were arraigned before Sharia Court No. 1 by the state prosecutor, Umma Mahe.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly conspired and used excessive force in attacking the victim, resulting in serious bodily injuries.

During the court proceedings, the first defendant, Hassan, pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against him.

However, the second and third defendants admitted guilt on the first and second counts but denied the third count.

Counsel to the defendants subsequently applied for bail on behalf of his clients.

After listening to submissions from both parties, the presiding judge, Justice Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwargini, declined the bail application and ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.

The matter was adjourned to May 25, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
