A Magistrate’s Court No 15 of No man’s Land, Kano state, has remanded three members of a vigilante group in prison custody over alleged killing of a man in Kurnar Asabe quarters, Fagge local government.

The Prosecution Officer, Inspector Jacob Yaduma told the court that one Ibrahim Mohammed, a resident of Kurna, reported the matter to police that some members of the vigilante group, Hamisu Mansur, Mustapha Abubakar, Hudu Rabi’u and Abba Kwana, who is now at large, had conspired and beat one Mas’udu Muhd of Kurna quarters.

The court further heard that “as a result of the beating Mas’udu sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for treatment but he later died.”

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide which contravened Sections 97 and 224 of the Penal Code Law.

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Mukhtar Garba Dandago ordered the remand of the accused persons in prison custody and adjourned the case to 28th February, 2019 for continuation.
