Court remands 4 over kidnapping in Ekiti

Four persons have been  remanded in a correctional centre by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court for alleged  kidnapping.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court, yesterday, that Abubakar Babangida, 29, Abubakar Manko, 25, Shehu Mamuga, 26 and Shehu Lima, 20, were reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of kidnapping of Mr. Ajayi Okunola Happiness.

The prosecutor noted that the offence is punishable under Section 3(a) of the Kidnap and Terrorism (Prohibition) Law of Ekiti State, 2015.

He said the offence was committed within the Oye-Ekiti Magisterial District on the 24th day of December, 2020.

Inspector Akinwale, therefore, urged the court to allow him to duplicate the case file and send it to the Department of Public Prosection (DPP ) for legal advice.

Counsel to the defendants, Barr. T. E. Omotosho, represented the defendants in court.

The magistrate, Mrs. Moradeke Onipede, ordered the remand of the defendants in a correctional centre and adjourned the case to February 3, 2021.
