Court remands 4 suspected cultists over politician’s murder

An Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Monday remanded four suspected members of a cult – Eiye Confraternity – in Ikoyi Prison for allegedly murdering a politician.

Justice I. O. Akinkugbe, who gave the order, said the accused after they pleaded not guilty, should remain behind bars until the next adjournment. The accused are Michael Fashola, Mufutau Tokosi, Abidemi Kolawole, and Fatai Onifade.

The accused, whose residential addresses were not given, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder.

The Lagos State prosecutor, Mrs O. V. Fagbayi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 21, 2017 at 8pm on 41 Road, Festac Town, Lagos.

She said the accused conspired and killed Mr Emmanuel Uba (a.k.a Onwa) by shooting him. “The accused killed Uba by shooting him in the head with a gun,” she said. (NAN)
