A Kano State Magistrate Court No. 4, sitting at Gyadi-Gyadi in the Kumbotso Local Government Area, has ordered the remand of one Aminu Isa and four others over allegations of murder and criminal conspiracy.
The defendants were arraigned before the court by the prosecution counsel, Barrister Auwal Usman Usman.
The prosecution alleged that the defendants conspired and killed a staff member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) following a dispute at Tukuntawa Quarters in the Kano Municipal Area.
The defendants denied the charges. Following the plea, the prosecution applied for an adjournment to enable the office to seek legal advice from the state government (Director of Public Prosecutions).
Although counsel to the defendants applied for bail on their behalf, the application was opposed by the prosecution and subsequently refused by the court.
The magistrate ordered that the five defendants remain in custody pending further proceedings.
