Court remands 6 men over robbery

An Igbosere Magistrate Court in Lagos on Monday remanded six men in prison for alleged armed robbery.

The defendants are Matthew Anuya (20); Patrick Sunday (30); Emeka Okonkwo (28); David Eshare (22); Isaac Eyong (25) and Ekene Okata (26).

The Prosecutor, Insp. Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offences on May 11, at 05:20am at Ilasan, Lekki in Eti-Osa area of Lagos.

He alleged that the defendants armed themselves with dangerous weapons and forcefully dispossessed one Adeyanju Olaolu of his Techno phone worth N60, 000, as well as cash and other valuable items.

Balogun said the defendants inflicted injuries on Olaolu with the weapons, while stealing from him.

He alleged that one of the defendants, Eshare, broke into another complainant’s house, one Lexy Mojo-Eyes, and stole a Dell laptop worth N130, 000.

He said one of the defendants, Okata, stole one Techno phone worth N5, 000 from another complainant, Femi Thomas.

The defendants’ pleas were not taken while the Magistrate, Mrs. K. K. Awoyinka, remanded them in prison and ordered that their case file be duplicated and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

She adjourned the case to May 28, 2019, for mention. (NAN)
