Court remands 61-year-old man over rape of minor

The chief magistrate of the Family Court 1, Iyaganku, Ibadan, S. H. Adebisi on Friday remanded a 61-year-old man, Mr. Olayiwola Rasak, of S6/387 Oke Oluokun Kudeti Road, Ibadan over rape of a minor.
The suspect was allegedly arrested for defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The NSCDC commandant in the state, Mr. Michael Adaralewa, who brought the case before the court said that the suspect was charged to court for rape.
He said the offence contravenes Section 34(1) and is punishable under Section 34(2) of the Child Rights Law of Oyo State.
He explained that the suspect was arraigned after a medical examination and thorough investigation of the victim.
Adaralewa added that the suspect voluntarily confessed that he once had sexual intercourse with the victim.
He warned those indulging in such acts to desist as the NSCDC would not hesitate to bring offenders to justice as usual.
The case was adjourned till November 8 for further hearing.
The chief magistrate ordered the suspect to be remanded at the Abolongo Correctional Centre pending the next adjournment.
