The accused persons were charged for releasing a musical album titled “Tsangayar Kura” on March 1, 2009, for public consumption without being censored by the Kano State Censorship Board (KSCB).

After listening to the charges read by the state’s counsel, Barrister Sunusi Ma’aji, the defendants pleaded not guilty.

Their offence, according to the charges, was contrary to section 16 of the Kano State Censorship Board Law 2001 and punishable under section 16 (b) of the same law.

When the accused persons pleaded not guilty, the presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Mukthari Ahmed, ordered for their remand in prison custody.
