Court remands herder over alleged theft of N6.5m

A Sokoto magistrate Court has remanded a cattle herder Attahiru Abubakar in prison for allegedly stealing N6.5 million from a businessman.

Attahiru is being charged with criminal conspiracy to commit robbery of possession of firearms.

Other suspects still large include a vigilante, four students, and one other while the juvenile amongst them was taken to remand home.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Naallah Jibo, the accused persons armed themselves with cutlass, knives and sticks and attacked the complainant one Alhaji Yahaya Gora, a Sokoto based businessman in his house.

The prosecutor added the suspects inflicted injuries on Gora’s body and dispossessed him of N6.5 million.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Chief Magistrate Abubakar Adamu adjourned the case to September 7.
