A suspected kidnapper, Abdullahi Yaro, has been remanded by a magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
He was arraigned on two count-charge of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping contrary to sections 97 and 273 of the penal code law.
According to the police, after kidnapping the wife of one Mr Taisha and his three children, the suspect and others now at large, demanded N50m for their release.
“In March, we received intelligence about Yaro whose gang has been terrorising Omu Aran and its environs and he was subsequently arrested, the police told the court.
The prosecutor, Matthew Ologbonsaye, urged the court to remand the suspect based on the severity of the offence allegedly committed to afford the police time to complete their investigation.
Magistrate Afusat Alege who presided over the matter ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Correctional Service Centre Ilorin
The matter was adjourned to April 25th, 2022 for further mention.
