An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 39-year-old man, Kayode Abayomi, at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over impersonation and forgery.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court yesterday that the defendant committed the offence on January 5 in Ado-Ekiti.

Inspector Okunade alleged that the defendant impersonated himself as a lawyer and forged a lawyer’s stamp and seal.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened sections 484 and 467(4)b of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Okunade urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The chief magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre and adjourned the case till January 26 for mention.
