Court remands man accused of killing 99-yr-old aunt

A magistrates’ court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has remanded a 30-year-old man, Owolabi Folorunsho, who allegedly killed his 99-year-old aunt.

The accused, Folorunsho, according to the police, claimed that the deceased, Ebunola Arobonto, usually used her magic powers “to change lottery numbers whenever he was sure of winning.”

While arraigning him before the court on Thursday, the prosecuting counsel, Bale Nimnan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 3, 2019, on Igan Road, Ago-Iwoye. He alleged that the defendant killed the woman by cutting her neck with a cutlass.

The plea of the defendant was, however, not taken by the court as the Magistrate, Olakulehin Oke, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The case was adjourned to June 11, 2019, for mention.
