Court remands man for allegedly killing another in a fight

A 40-year-old man has been remanded in prison for allegedly killing another man during a fight.

The accused person, Muntari Abdu of Mai Tsaidu village in Baure Local Government area of Katsina was said to have during the said fight used a knife to stab the victim, Salisu Abubakar, 30, on his head and shoulder.

Abubakar was later rushed to Baure General Hospital for treatment where he later died.

At resumed hearing yesterday, the police prosecuting officer, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that the accused, who is facing a culpable homicide charge contrary to Section 221 of the penal code, and the victim were of same village. He said investigation is still ongoing and pleaded for more time.

The presiding magistrate, Fadila Dikko, thereafter adjourned the matter to May 14 for further mention.
