An Ebute Meta magistrate court in Lagos on Friday ordered that a 51-year-old man, Rasaki Banjo, be remanded in prison for allegedly stabbing his friend to death with a broken bottle.

The magistrate, Mrs A.O Salawu, remanded Banjo in Ikoyi Prison and ordered that the case file be sent to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Salawu adjourned the case until May 6.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Maria Dauda told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 24 at No. 3, Babayemi St., Oworonshoki, Lagos.

Dauda alleged that the defendant stabbed his friend, Enitan Apangbon, 45, on his neck with a broken bottle during a fight.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 223 stipulates death sentence for offenders. (NAN)
