A Kano Magistrate Court sitting at Nomansland has remanded Ibrahim Lawan in custody over the alleged murder of Nasir Mohammed.

The prosecution counsel, Barrister Maryam Halilu Dantiye, told the court that the defendant allegedly stabbed the deceased in the stomach with a pair of scissors during an argument that reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred following a disagreement between the two men at a shoe repair location.

The charges were read to the defendant by the court registrar, Mohammed Musa Umar. However, no plea was taken.

The prosecution subsequently sought an adjournment to enable it to obtain legal advice from the Ministry of Justice.

Presiding Magistrate Hauwa Abba Musa granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

The case was adjourned until July 7, 2026, for further hearing.
