A Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan has ordered the remand in custody of one Malik Aderemi (20), facing trial over the alleged indecent assault of a seven-year-old minor.

Aderemi, who was arraigned on a two-count charge of indecent assault and stealing, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court’s President, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, had initially admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akintayo stipulated that each of the sureties must provide evidence of three years of tax payment to the Oyo State Government, in addition to proof of ownership of landed property with a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O). (NAN) to meet the bail conditions, the court ordered his remand in a correctional facility and adjourned the matter until April 6 for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendant allegedly stole an iPhone valued at ₦110,000 on August 18, 2025, in the Gate area of Ibadan.

Ayeni further alleged that on August 28, 2025, Aderemi indecently assaulted a 7-year-old girl in the Ayeye area of Ibadan.

The prosecutor stated that the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 360(A) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
