An Ile-Ife magistrates’ court in Osun on Wednesday remanded a 22-year-old man, Adeyemi Oluwadamilola, to be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional in Ile-Ife over alleged rape.

Oluwadamilola, who resides at Phase 3 along Ilesa road, Ile-Ife, is facing a count charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge of a woman (name withheld).

The defendant, who was not legally represented, pleaded guilty to the offence.

The prosecutor, Insp Monday Ibhafidon, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec 10, 2022 around 7:12pm at Phase 3 along Ilesa road, Ile-Ife.

He said the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the, 21-year-old woman “by forceful sexual intercourse with her.”

He said the offence contravened  the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Magistrate O.  T.  Badmus ordered for the remand of the defendant in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Custody and adjourned the case to January 20, 2023 for hearing.(NAN)
