A 36-year-old man, Kevin Constant, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos State, over an alleged attempt to murder his female friend.
Constant is facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault, unlawful damage and attempted murder. He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Omisakin, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 13, at 3.30am, at No. 2, Busayo Adebayo St., Anibaloye Estate, Anthony, Lagos.
Omisakin told the court that the defendant used a broken cup to stab the complainant, Pamela Phillips, severally on the head and other parts of the body.
“Constant also damaged the side mirrors of Phillips’s Toyota Corolla car,’’ the prosecutor said.
The chief magistrate, Mr O.O. Olatunji, turned down a bail application by the defence counsel, Mr Tunde Idris, and remanded the defendant pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
He adjourned the case until April 30 for mention. (NAN)
