A Gombe Chief Magistrate Court III, yesterday remanded an 18-year-old student, Usman Shehu, of Bypass Quarters, Gombe, for alleged trespass and rape of a 12-year-old girl.
Mr Michael Chimuje, the court clerk, who read the First Information Report (FIR), said the offences were committed on Jan. 19, at about 2.30pm.
He said the accused “criminally trespassed into the House of one Zainab Kachalla of same address.
Chimuje said the accused entered into the bedroom of the complainant’s 12-year-old daughter and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her. He said the accused committed the offences contrary to sections 282 and 342 of the penal code.
However, the prosecutor, Insp. Salihu Jibir, told the court that investigation into the matter was in progress and applied for adjournment to enable the police complete their investigation.
The chief magistrate, Mr Saluk Yusuf, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison and adjourned the case until Feb. 26. (NAN)
