A Lokoja Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded in prison an 18-year-old block molder, Mohammed Aminu, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.

The prosecuting police officer, Sgt. Shaibu Friday, told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 18 in an uncompleted building.

He said the girl’s father, Ahmed Abdulazeez, reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Adavi.

He said Abdulazeez alleged that the suspect deceitfully took the girl into an uncompleted mosque and had carnal knowledge after her.

The police prosecutor said the little girl sustained injury in her private part and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

The accused’s plea could however not be taken as he was not legally represented.

The prosecutor opposed his bail saying that investigation was still on.  Chief Magistrate Levi Animoku consequently denied bail to the accused and ordered that he be remanded at the Okene Federal Prisons. He described rape as a “grievous and deadly” social vice that had permeated the society and was now rampant.

He also transferred the case to the Family Court, Okene, to take cognizance and adjourned for mention at Okene.
