A woman, Mrs Binta Dahiru, who bit off the flesh of a female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) during a demolition exercise at Katampe Extension, Abuja, on Wednesday has been remanded by a mobile court.

Mrs Dahiru was arraigned alongside her husband, Dahiru Musa (37), for erecting an illegal structure, as well as causing obstruction.

The prosecutor, Barr Eze E. Eze, told the court that the couple’s action contravened the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) Act No 10, 1997, adding that when government officials went to demolish their illegal structure, they attacked a civil defence officer with the wife biting and inflicting injury on the officer.

Although Mrs Dahiru initially denied biting the NSCDC officer, she later changed her plea and accepted that she committed the offence.

The magistrate, Musa Jabbo, granted the plaintiffs N100,000 each with sureties in like sum but ordered their remand in the Kuje prison if they failed to meet the bail conditions and adjourned to November 24.
