Court reserves ruling in corruption case against Ganduje, wife, others

Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court has reserved a ruling in a corruption and misappropriation case involving the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Ganduje, and six others.

The other defendants include Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd., Safari Textiles Ltd., and Lasage General Enterprises Ltd.

They are facing an eight-count charge bordering on bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds instituted by the Kano State government.

Ganduje served as the state governor from 2015 to 2023.

Ganduje’s counsel, Offiong Offiong (SAN), filed a motion for an extension of time, urging the court to grant the application.

In response, prosecution counsel Adeola Adedipe (SAN), filed a reply opposing the motion and urging its dismisal.

Separate preliminary objections were also moved by counsels to other defendants, including Mr Adekunle Taiye-Falola (3rd & 7th defendants) and Sanusi Musa (SAN) for the 5th defendant, who requested the court to grant their motions and impose costs on the prosecution.

Justice Amina Aliyu adjourned the matter, with a ruling date to be communicated to all parties.
