A Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting in Zungeru has revoked the bail earlier granted to members of a family accused of brutally assaulting their neighbour and mutilating her by cutting off her nose in Rijiyar Lemo of Dala LGA of the state.

The incident stemmed from a dispute that began when the complainant, Rahama, visited the home of Hassana Usman to recover money owed to her.

According to case reports, Hassana and Umar Usman allegedly collaborated with other family members to attack Rahama, inflicting severe injuries that resulted in the loss of her nose.

This violent act occurred despite the accused having previously been arraigned before the Hajj Camp Court, where they were initially granted bail.

Rahama was immediately taken to the Dala Orthopaedic Hospital, where she underwent reconstructive surgery due to the gravity of her injuries.

Concerns raised by prosecutors regarding the handling of the case led to its transfer to the Zungeru Magistrate Court for further review.

Magistrate Huda Harun revoked the defendants’ bail and ordered court officials to assess the complainant’s current medical condition.

The case has been adjourned to November 27, 2025, for continuation of the hearing.

The Magistrate also directed that the accused persons be remanded in correctional custody pending the next court session.
