A High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Friday sacked the sixteen transitional implementation committee (TIC) chairmen recently appointed by the state government.
Justice Haleemah Gegele, who delivered the judgment, described the action as executive rascality, abuse of power and illegality not known to law.
The court added that the Kwara State government suspended a democratically elected local government council and replaced it with illegality.
The case, numbered KWS 117/2021, was instituted by a Kwara-based civil rights organization and anti-corruption crusader, Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENETSUD).
Barrister S. M Kosemani, an Assistant Chief State Counsel and E. O. Bamidele, Senior State Counsel appeared for the government while Lukman Raji and A.M Abdulraheem, represented ENetSuD.
ENetSuD dragged the respondents (Kwara State Government, Kwara State Governor and Attorney General of Kwara State) to the State High Court to seek nullification of the action.
Reacting to the judgement, the Kwara State government said it will appeal the case.
