Court seals Coca-Cola plant over poor sanitation

The plant, located at the Challawa industrial area of Kano metropolis, was sealed for violating the monthly sanitation exercise, which mandated residents and companies to stay indoors and clean their surroundings during sanitation hours observed in the state every last Saturday of the month.
The Coca-Cola plant was found guilty of operating during the sanitation hours and working under a poor and unhygienic environment. The court asked them to pay a fine of N1million for the two offences.
At the end of the sanitation, the sum of N1.2million was generated by the 10 mobile courts from 143 defaulters.
Director of Administration and General Services, Ministry of Environment, Abdullahi Kabir Kankarofi who monitored the exercise, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by residents.
