Court seals Yankaba Motor Park over poor sanitation

A mobile court attached to the Kano State Monthly Environmental Sanitation Committee, has closed down Yankaba Motor Park in the metropolis during the last weekend sanitation exercise.
 The committee has slated last Friday and Saturday of every month as a day for sanitation in motor parks/offices and residents respectively.
The park located along Hadejia road was sealed over poor sanitation and operating in an unhygienic environment which endangered the lives of motorists and passengers.
Therefore, the presiding judge attached to one of the courts, Abdu Abdullahi Waiya asked the officials to pay a fine of N200, 000 for the offense.
Also on Saturday, a day set aside for house sanitation, a total of 115 defaulters were arrested and asked to pay a fine of N589, 390 for different offenses.
Speaking to newsmen after monitoring the exercise, the Commissioner of
Environment, Alhaji Ali Abubakar Haruna Makoda, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by the residents.
He also emphasized his call to residents, ministries and motor parks to always ensure that their premises were always clean to avoid outbreak of diseases.
